Facts vs. Opinions in Opinion Essay
Facts vs. Opinions in Opinion EssayWhen a student gets started in writing an essay, they may be concerned with what topics to include in their opinion essay. Of course, they also want to avoid topics that will make it appear as though they are trying to trick the reader into thinking they are an expert on something when in reality they are not.The best way to avoid topics that will be hard to please is to write an opinion essay that makes it clear you have nothing to prove. This means that you have a point of view that is firmly based and there are no hidden agendas or hidden opinions. Once your point of view is known, then there are no further concerns about what topics to include in your essay. The best way to come up with a point of view for an essay is to take a look at the facts. Identify the facts and write them down so you can understand what the point of view is. Most of the time, the facts will be positive and it will be up to you to explain how your facts to support your poi nt of view. A good example of this is the article about David Beckham. The facts stated were that he had played in England many times before; that he had played for some of the biggest teams in the world; that he had a terrific goal scored against him in that World Cup when he was a member of the team; and that he left a lasting impression on the football fans of England. Once those facts were stated, it became evident that Beckham's skills were undeniable and his impact on the game was tremendous. If the facts were not positive, then there would be negative points to address. The way to address these negative points was to state the facts in a neutral manner, and to give the readers a sense of the events at hand. This is what happens when the facts are factual. The fact that a writer uses a neutral approach will get them through the editing process easier and will help to eliminate points that are not as positive as they could be. It is much easier to use a neutral approach when the f acts are factual. The great thing about factual facts is that they provide the reader with a general idea of the situation and that understanding of the situation can help in the editing process.Opinions can easily be created in an essay, if the facts are factual. They will all be facts and the opinions will simply be opinions based on the facts. In other words, when a writer presents a facts based opinion in an essay, it will not be considered an opinion. While the facts need to be clear in an opinion essay, it is important to realize that opinions are generally the opinions based on the facts and should be presented in a neutral manner. The writer must also realize that facts do not always mean the same thing to all readers. Having an idea of the different types of opinions that are based on the facts can help in the writing process.
